Hypalon® > Applications
Applications
Hypalon® chlorosulfonated polyethylene shows its true strength when exposed to high temperatures and oxidizing chemicals. It resists flex cracking and abrasion as well as the damaging effects of weather, UV/ozone, heat and chemicals. Easy pigmentation and color stability, along with low moisture absorption, complement its use in single-ply roofing systems, automotive and industrial hose and timing belts, wire and cable jacketing and insulation. Equally important, Hypalon® has demonstrated long life in harsh environments, such as seen by liners and floating covers for water and sewage containment.
- Adhesives
Hypalon® provides unique value as a toughener for structural acrylic or "second generation acrylic" adhesives, which provide full efficiency without time-consuming metering and mixing.
- Automotive
With its excellent resistance to heat, oil, ozone and automotive fluids, Hypalon® is highly valued for its reliable performance in a variety of automotive applications, including fuel, power steering, and oil cooler hoses, timing belts, ignition cables, spark plug boots and wiring.
- Construction
Toughness, versatility and flexibility of Hypalon® have been helping meet the needs of construction engineers in areas from sheet roofing to reservoir lining.
- Wire and Cable
Hypalon® is an important low-temperature cure jacketing material for industrial and mining cables.
- Other applications
- Coated fabrics
- Industrial products: hoses, rolls, seals, gaskets, diaphragms and linings
- Flexible magnetic binders
- Jacketing and insulation for wire and cable
- Variety of protective and decorative coatings
