Simplify Seal Production, Improve Performance with Vertex™

Vertex™ is a patented, new technology that combines cost-effective, cure in place (CIP) technology with a wider selection of elastomer seal materials beyond current CIP silicone or polyurethane. Vertex™ robotically dispenses a liquid elastomer compound on a metal or plastic surface then cures it via UV light. The result is a finished component with a higher performing elastomer seal than was previously possible. Vertex™ meets the critical need for high-performance, economical elastomer sealing components in the automotive, electronic and industrial markets.

Advantages of Vertex™

  • Reduces time and cost through:
    • Simplified production
    • Combined part and seal fabrication
    • Reduced gasket inventory
    • Lower installation costs
    • Lower scrap and energy usage
  • Broader elastomer selection to better meet specifications
    • Patented compound is available from DuPont Performance Elastomers for DuPont Vamac® ethylene acrylic (SLX10017).
    • Other compounds, like Viton® fluoroelastomers and EPDM, are under development.

CIP Systems based on Vertex™

Vertex™ seal technology utilizes equipment similar to that used in "hot melt" applications, so start-up equipment is widely available. The investment required is significantly lower when compared to the cost of equipment needed for compounding, molding and curing in traditional rubber processes.
