2008 in Review - The ups and downs of the chemical processing industry.

2008 started out strongly for the chemical processing industry - capital projects were on the upswing and demand was strong. But, as expected, the mid-year, global downturn has dramatically slowed capital projects. The maintenance aftermarket also slowed in the last months of 2008, following the global GDP decline. As plants come back on line, demand will pick up again.

To meet our customer's needs for longer uptime and reduced maintenance costs, DuPont Performance Elastomers continues to develop new products. Early In 2008, we introduced Kalrez® SpectrumTM 6380 for hot, aggressive amines, strong acids and oxidizing media.

In this issue of the Global Sealing Express, we will introduce you to our latest high hardness product, Kalrez® SpectrumTM 7090, and reintroduce you to the Kalrez® SpectrumTM product line specifically developed for the chemical process industry. I hope you find the Global Sealing Express helpful in solving your sealing issues. Feel free to contact DPE if you have any questions.
