"AutoFocus" - News of high performance polymer and elastomer solutions in automotive

Dear Reader,

here is the July 2010 edition of "AutoFocus", the global eNewsletter from DuPont Performance Polymers that delivers news and expert opinion about high performance polymer and elastomer solutions for powertrain and chassis systems.

In this edition we take a close look at vital automotive air management systems, and provide answers to essential challenges for polymers; we review the latest news in the world of biofuels, and talk to DPP President Diane Gulyas about the company's capabilities, and future direction in Automotive. We have also included an article on "AdBlue" selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems used to reduce NOx emissions from diesel engines.

Your opinion is of importance to us! We would like to know what you think of "AutoFocus" and how we can make it more useful to you. We have prepared a 2 minute reader survey and we would appreciate you giving us your opinion! To take the online survey please click click here.

The topics in this edition:

  • Air management: DPP offers one stop for essential plastics and elastomers solutions

  • Fuel pump sender seal of DuPontTM Viton® fluoroelastomers in Toyota Camry Hybrid meets PZEV-Phase III fuel permeation limits

  • Interview: DPP President talks plastics and elastomer solutions to engine downsizing, light-weighing and performance challenges

  • AdBlue*: DuPontTM Zytel® engineering polymers and Vamac® Ultra elastomers demonstrate effectiveness

  • Biofuels update: "A clean energy future"

  • DuPont "Science of Friction": how managing friction can boost auto efficiency and reduce fuel consumption

  • "AutoFocus" survey: Tell us what you think

If you would like to comment on any of the articles or wish to know more, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Biofuel Update   Biofuels update: "A clean energy future"
The 5th 'Biofuels Update' from DPP reviews the latest news on biofuels, including technology developments, emissions legislations and implications for automotive engine technology and materials used in fuel system parts. Read Full Story

DuPont's "Science of Friction": how managing friction can boost auto efficiency and reduce fuel consumption
Friction between moving parts is a power thief, stealing around 10% of power to the road, and wasting several million barrels of oil a day. DuPont's "Science of Friction" program, coupled with new DuPontTM Vespel® SP-2515, is fighting friction in many powertrain components, demonstrating up to 55% percent reduction in friction versus PEEK.  Read Full Story
